Shake

Calm lightning breezes

Dance through the scene

Eating yesterday

In a wicked haze

Watch the rolling time fly

In colors

Rainbow tied

To cheap censure

Why block the mind

In silk and gauzy white?

Choose

Rhythmic winds of lost lands

A head full of meanings

Draped in intentions

Pleased to invent

Placid reverberations

In close presence

Touching the chords

Rattle with me a little while

Sharp and wicked like we like it

Peel yourself off the day

Interrupt the sky

Now

We have something to be

Brilliant symbols

Of fallen gods

They’ve got to move

Feel it in your veins

Giving motion to sound

Tempting the blank slate

Blossom and bloom

Shake, baby, shake

This

This is how it feels

Music echoing from your fingertips

Oblivion in my bones

Traveling the last road

South of nowhere

Anyone Still Out There?

It’s been a long time since I posted anything here, but I’m back. I’d stopped writing for a few years. I’d just run out of things to say. But a little over a year ago I finally started writing some poetry and song lyrics again. It’s a new phase of my writing. A lot of it has been stream of consciousness inspired by music genres I’ve gotten into like vaporwave, psy-trance, jazz and dub techno. Some has been observations on society and the current state of civilization.

I don’t know how much of my new stuff I’ll be posting, but I will be putting at least some new writing on here in the coming days and weeks.

So if any of my old followers are still around using WordPress I’ll look forward to your feedback once again.

David

Heretic

I felt like this has become much more pertinent in the past few weeks and months.

The Noise of Silence

The odd ones
Questioners
Doubters
Non-conformists

Ones who walk
Off the path
Not followers
Not sheep
Thinking for themselves
Finding
Not accepting
Searching
For their own answers
Within the mysteries

Unabashed and unashamed
Individuals

They used to burn people like us

At the stake

Shiny New Memories

He came home from his trip
Eyes full of shiny new memories
My son
With a week’s worth of stories
Days at the beach
And historic sights
In Washingtion D.C.
Laughing as he told me
How he and his cousin found
They could reach their arms
Through the tall black fence
To pluck blades of the greenest grass
From the White House lawn
“You should have brought some home!”  I laughed
What a memento that would be!
Carefully saved
Within a scrapbook
To forever remember
The look of those
Shiny new memories
In his eyes

NaPoWriMo 2013 post #7

Thank you, dear readers!

I want to thank Sandy Seeber at http://sandyseeber.wordpress.com/  for nominating The Noise of Silence for the Versatile Blogger Award.  I am honored that there are others out there willing to spend their time reading what I have written, and I truly appreciate all the Likes, Follows, and Comments I’ve received.

The rules for this award:

 1. Thank the person who nominated you and link back to them.

Done.  Thanks again, Sandy!

2. Share 7 things about yourself.

Okay.  Let me see…

1) I was born during a hurricane.

2) I am also an abstract artist who works in paint and collage.

3) My favorite color is green.

4) My mp3 player has a mix of 70’s and 80’s punk rock and classical music…Plus The Beatles 🙂

5) I love soccer (the real football!) and my favorite teams are Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur!

6) My favorite band is The Jesus and Mary Chain.

7) Despite the fact that I put all my emotions on display for the world in my poetry, I am normally a very private, shy person.

3. Pass the award on to 15 other blogs that you enjoy.
